MONTREAL, QC.–- Three QMJHL Montreal Canadiens’ prospects will attempt to stave off elimination tonight as the Montreal Juniors, down 3-1 in their series, face the Lewiston MAINEiacs back on their home ice tonight starting at 7:05 p.m. Louis Leblanc (5-2-7 in 8 games) and Philippe Lefebvre (3-5-8 in 8 games) only had one assist between them in a 4-1 loss in Game 4 on Wednesday night. The bad blood between the two teams continued as 42 penalty minutes were served. While Montreal is 6/19 on their power play at home, Lewiston is 9/26 on theirs in opposing arenas. The Juniors would do best to remain disciplined tonight, unless they want their season to end a little bit earlier than planned.
Also down 3 games to 1 are Michaël Bournival (4-5-9 in 9 games) and his team, the lower seed in a battle between the 3rd-place Quebec Remparts and the 7th-place Shawinigan Cataractes. After stunning the Remparts with a comeback 6-3 win on Tuesday, the Cataractes fell 5-1 the following night thanks to a three-point performance by Quebec overager Jonathan Audy-Marchessault. Returning to the Colisee Pepsi tonight (where the Remparts have yet to be beaten in the postseason), the Cataractes will look to get the early goal, as they have found the most success in the playoffs when they maintain the lead through the first and second periods. The action gets underway in Quebec beginning at 7:00 p.m.
I was going to say “dont’ forget newly signed Alain Berger in Oshawa” but um, my Nigara IceDogs already eliminated his Oshawa Generals so never mind about that…..
Here’s hoping the Juniors and the Cataractes can stave off elimination again today!
