The Canadiens have travelled to Halifax with 13 forwards in case of injury or illness — only 12 will play. The three forwards named by Jacques Martin who are vying for the last roster spot will all be in the line-up: Michael Blunden, Andreas Engqvist, and Aaron Palushaj. It’s a bit of a homecoming for Cape Breton Screaming Eagle defenseman Morgan Ellis who will suit up for the Habs. Peter Budaj gets the start in goal and will play the full game with Robert Mayer as the backup.

Valentenko cut by Rangers: Pavol Valentenko was one of 40 players placed on waivers by NHL teams on Saturday. Valentenko was the former Canadiens defenseman sent to New York as part of the Scott Gomez trade.
