HAMILTON (September 27, 2011) – The Montreal Canadiens announced that forward Gabriel Dumont has been assigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs from the Canadiens. The Bulldogs announced today that forward Philip DeSimone and defenceman Olivier Dame-Malka have been signed to one-year, two-way American Hockey League / ECHL contracts. Financial terms of the agreements were not disclosed. Both players had been on tryouts at Montreal’s and Hamilton’s training camps.

Dumont, 20, played in 64 games with the ‘Dogs in 2010-2011 posting 18 points (five goals, 13 assists) and 79 penalty minutes. In 20 post-season games with Hamilton last season, the 5-foot-10, 177-pound centre recorded nine points (six goals, three assists) and six penalty minutes. The native of Ville Degelis, Quebec played in four 2011 pre-season games with the Canadiens. Dumont was drafted in the 5th round, 139th overall in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

DeSimone, 24, played in 39 games with the University of New Hampshire in 2010-2011, recording 41 points (10 goals, 31 assists) and 36 penalty minutes. From 2007-2011, the 6-foot-1, 195-pound centre played a total of 154 games for the University of New Hampshire amassing 109 points (30 goals, 79 assists) and 148 penalty minutes. The native of East Amherst, New York had been drafted by the Washington Capitals in the 3rd round, 84th overall in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. DeSimone recorded one assist in four 2011 pre-season games with Montreal.

Dame-Malka, 21, completed his third season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League last season with the Lewiston MAINEiacs, playing in 64 games and posting 55 points (16 goals, 39 assists) and leading the team in penalty minutes with 116. In 176 games in the QMJHL, the 5-foot-10, 178-pound defender registered 104 points (30 goals, 74 assists) and 292 penalty minutes.

The Bulldogs will open their 2011-2012 season at home on Saturday, October 8th at 7:00 p.m. at Copps Coliseum against the Rochester Americans.
