GAMEDAY: All Habs Headlines
► Bite the hand: You heard the one about the aggressive union executives that are so publicly critical of the employer that they put the company out of business? Well, it seems that Octagon Sports player agent Alan Walsh follows that school of thought.
You may remember Walsh did his client, former Canadiens goalie Jaroslav Halak no favors by trashing Carey Price in public a few years ago. In October, Walsh looked foolish by complaining about an obvious suspension to Pierre-Marc Bouchard. He is quickly stamping a persona non grata label on his players in the eyes of some NHL general managers.
The latest incident concerns client Derick Brassard who has been a recent healthy scratch by Columbus coach Scott Arniel. Walsh sounded off.
“While I have tremendous respect for Scott Howson and the rest of Columbus’ management team, the situation regarding Derick Brassard has become untenable. This coach has a history of burying players and using them as scapegoats to mask his own lack of success on the ice. Derick has been singled out, almost from the very beginning of the season to be the fall guy in case things don’t go well. The Columbus organization cares about Derick and has been good to him, but at some point enough is enough.” –Allan Walsh
