GAMEDAY: All Habs Headlines
►Gauthier to update media: Canadiens’ general manager Pierre Gauthier is calling a press conference at 2:30 p.m. EST in order to discuss Andrei Markov. Earlier this week, Markov’s agent, Don Meehan, launched his frustrations at the Montreal media for flooding him with questions regarding his client’s situation and whereabouts before the Habs’ game against San Jose, claiming he was “sick and tired of doing the PR work” [1] for the Canadiens.
► Gallagher with another multi-point night: Brendan Gallagher has 23 goals in 26 games with the Vancouver Giants. Last night he scored an empty-netter and added an assist in a 4-1 win over the Regina Pats, finishing +2 and as the first star of the evening. This came after he scored a hat trick on Wednesday in a 5-4 losing cause against the Brandon Wheat Kings. He is currently on a four-game point streak (4-4-8) with points in eight of his last ten games (a total of 17 points).
► Bulldogs continue struggles: The Hamilton Bulldogs were shut out by a familiar face last night by the count of 4-0: David Aebischer. Spencer Machacek scored twice, plus Aaron Gagnon and Eric O’Dell added goals of their own for the St. John’s IceCaps. Nathan Lawson, back from an upper body injury, made 35 stops in a losing cause. The Bulldogs fired 21 shots at Aebischer, plus some that struck iron. They will look to rebound as early as tonight as they face the Rochester Americans at Copps Coliseum, beginning at 7:00 p.m. EST.
