Game Preview by Sam Gerber
Last game : MTL 5  WPG 2   The Canadiens top line led the way with Phillip Danault and Jonathan Drouin recording four points each. Shea Weber blasted home the game winner. It was a full team effort for Montreal. The forwards were relentless in all zones of the ice, particularly the Finn line. To top it off, Carey Price was excellent once again winning his seventh game in a row.

Players to watch

  • Max Domi
Domi was quiet against his hometown team on Thursday. But expect him to be a difference maker tonight. Domi has become a true member of the Habs after growing up with the Leafs. Tonight will show just how much he wants to beat the Leafs as a member of the Habs.
  • Andrew Shaw
Shaw has been cleared to play and has picked the perfect game to returno. Shaw loves to be involved and will be right in the thick of things against the Leafs.
  • Carey Price
Price has not only continued to steal games, but has been dominant. In the past 20 games, Price has been the best goalie in hockey. He gives his team confidence which will be a big boost against the Leafs tonight.

Keys to Victory

  • Copy the last performance
The Canadiens played an excellent game against the Jets and need to have a 60 minute effort from the entire team against the Leafs.
  • Take time and space
The Leafs are a great team and are a threat to score from every line. Montreal must limit their scoring chances by taking away time and space.
  • Stay out of the box
A game between the Habs and Leafs is bound to have a few penalties. For the Habs to win they have to limit their penalties and keep their emotions in check.

What to Expect by Sam Gerber
A Montreal win would allow them to leapfrog the Leafs for second place in the division. The Habs have been playing great hockey while the Leafs have depended on their offense to make up for their defensive play. The Canadiens have a chance to make another statement win. With the way the season is going tonight’s game could be a preview for what’s to come in the playoffs.
