A Look Back

The Habs dominated the Canucks from start to finish. It was a well-balanced attack with only three forwards not earning a point. The Habs fourth line and special teams play was a big part of the game. Price stopped 27 shots and made the big saves when he needed to bail out his team.

Players to Watch

  • Shea Weber
    Something special is happening in Montreal when Shea Weber is making touch passes to the slot that are tap ins for his teammates. Weber has quietly got six points and is leading by example every game.
  • Artturi Lehkonen
    Lehkonen had an excellent game last night. He was a big part of the fourth line’s great performance and will look to add on to that with the same effort tonight.
  • Joel Edmundson
    Edmundson now leads the league in plus minus and his partner is right behind him. His physical presence on the ice has been exactly what the Habs wanted.

Keys to Victory

  • Repeat the effort
    The Canucks do not want last night to happen again and will be putting up a fight. The Habs have to be ready right from the start and play as hard as they did last night.
  • Use the depth
    The depth of the Habs was on full display last night and will be once again tonight. The Habs will go as far as their depth takes them and right now it’s looking pretty far.
  • Stay disciplined
    The Habs only took three minors last night and playing 5-on-5 is key for the Habs. The second night of a back-to-back is always harder but expect a physical game tonight.

Happy Groundhog Day! The Habs are hoping to have a little groundhog day of their own and repeat last night’s performance. They know better then to think tonight will be a cake walk but the Habs seem to have the Canucks number.

Bottom Line

If tonight is anything like last night the Canucks will get frustrated as they showed a bit of that last night. The Canadian division has yet to get nasty but sooner or later it will.
