Cole Caufield

In April, Cole Caufield was named the winner of the Hobey Baker Award as the top college hockey player. Caufield then stepped on the ice for the Laval Rocket and scored twice in his professional hockey debut.

“It means a lot, obviously it was something that was a goal of mine going into the year. It’s a special award,” said Caufield following the Rocket’s 5-3 win. “It was on my mind pretty much all day. I was getting dressed for warmup (when I found out about the award.)”

On Wednesday, Caufield will receive his Hobey Baker Award at a banquet and golf tournament at The Royal Golf Club in Lake Elmo, Minnesota.

Cup Heads to Eastern Quebec

The Stanley Cup continued its Quebec tour with Yanni Gourde sharing it with the residents of his hometown, Saint-Narcisse-de-Beaurivage. Several hundred fans gathered to celebrate and take photos with the 29-year-old double-Cup winner, who is now a member of the Seattle Kraken.

Canadiens fans have felt trolled by the Lightning celebrations as the Cup has made it’s way to the Bell Centre and been used as a serving dish for poutine. This time Gourde used the Stanley Cup for maple taffy, a traditional Quebec treat, made with maple sap and snow.

Jersey Advertising

There is a report that the NHL’s Board of Governors has unanimously approved advertising on official team jerseys starting in the 2022-23 season. The NHL has not yet confirmed the decision.

The NHL added sponsor ads to player’s helmets in 2020-21.
