Proof of Vaccination

A vaccine passport system is coming to Quebec starting September 1st. The system, which is the first in Canada, applies to everyone 13 years of age and older. A scannable QR code can be downloaded from a government web page as of August 25th and will be displayed in an app called VaxiCode.

The Quebec government website lists hockey as an event and an arena as a venue where the passports will be required for admittance. This means that spectators of the Canadiens and Rocket will require proof of vaccination for entry to the Bell Centre and Place Bell respectively.

Mysak to Rocket or Bulldogs?

Despite being just 18 years of age, Canadiens prospect Jan Mysak played 22 games for the Laval Rocket last season. In normal times, CHL players under the age of 20 would not be permitted to play in the AHL but Mysak (and others in a similar situation) was given the opportunity when his Hamilton Bulldogs squad were unable to play due to the pandemic.

The NHL and CHL are currently negotiating a solution to determine whether CHL eligible players who suited up for 20 or more games last season in the AHL will be able to return to those teams for 2021-22.

It was a topic of discussion for the AHL ‘hot stove’ crew on the latest episode of The Press Zone – Montreal podcast. Listen in the player below and subscribe.

Together with our amazing and talented teams, we will continue to develop and deliver world-class sports and entertainment events across our brands that create unique and memorable experiences for the best fans in the world,” said Belanger.
