That’s not necessarily the recipe for a fan favorite. But it was rather easy for the Bell Centre faithful to warm up to the 25-year-old who had a four point game in his Canadiens debut. Right behind Dvorak was Josh Anderson who scored two goals on the power-play and added an assist for three points. The Canadiens were impressive with the man advantage going 3-for-5. In addition to Anderson and Dvorak, Joel Armia, Jonathan Drouin and Chris Wideman picked up points on the power-play. All of the special teams play was fun for the 7,500 fans in the building but was not ideal for evaluating players. That said, several Canadiens players stood out in the second pre-season tilt. Contributions from YouthFacing NHL talent for the first time, including the likes of Mitch Marner, Kaiden Guhle passed the test with flying colors. The 19-year-old defenceman led all Montreal skaters in ice-time with 23:44. Guhle had four hits and was solid on the Canadiens perfect penalty-kill, playing a team-high 1:15 while short-handed. Michael Pezzetta led Montreal in shots on goal and hits and scored twice. He was involved in the play on every shift as was his linemate Jan Mysak. The 19-year-old Mysak played 16:42 and had an assist on Pezzetta’s second period goal. The Canadiens won the special teams battle fueling their win but the Leafs dominated even strength play. Shots attempts were 60-26 for Toronto while 5-on-5. Coach Ducharme has more work to do particularly as he manages the pre-season without a healthy lineup. Up NextThe Canadiens have a few days to prepare before their next pre-season action on Friday against the Senators in Ottawa.Plus▲ Josh Anderson, Christian Dvorak, Michael Pezzetta, Jan Mysak, Kaiden Guhle, Jonathan Drouin, Joel Armia, Jake AllenMinus▼ Kevin Poulin, Rafael Harvey-Pinard, Jake Evans, Corey Schueneman |
