It was the first time since 2018 that the Habs were blanked in two consecutive games. The goal drought now stands at 121:25 minutes. Perhaps fans were somewhat understanding of the mighty Hurricanes having their way with the Canadiens. But Detroit is also a rebuilding team sitting in the bottom third of the standings. Montreal offered little to nothing in the way of offence. After creating four high-danger scoring chances in the first period, the Habs could not muster another chance in the final 40 minutes of the game. Red Wings goaltender Ville Husso made 24 saves for his fourth shutout of the season. Husso had missed two weeks since being sidelined with a lower-body injury on March 20th. It was the second time this season that Husso earned a shutout against the Canadiens. The Red Wings blanked Montreal 3-0 at Little Caesar Arena in the Habs second game of the season on October 14th. At the other end of the ice, it was another shaky performance from Cayden Primeau. The 23-year-old goaltender struggled with his positioning and rebound control finishing the game with a .762 save percentage. It could have been worse as Primeau was saved by Nick Suzuki sweeping a puck off the goal line in the second period. The boo-birds were out at the Bell Centre tonight, and who could blame them? Montreal suffered their fourth loss in a row.
