With three years remaining on his current contract with Kazan Ak-Bars of the RSL, Kirill Petrov could be this year’s Alexei Cherepanov as he could drop to the later stages of the first round or even drop into the early part of the second round.
Petrov is very comfortable with his current situation playing with Kazan Ak-Bars regardless what he was saying to the NHL or the media at the draft combine. He is a very talented player who will be a nice addition to any NHL team but patience will have to be a prerequisite for any team wanting to get him to North America.
