MUST-SEE NHL GAMES HIGHLIGHT CBC’S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA 2013-14 BROADCAST SCHEDULE
July 19, 2013 – CBC’S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA returns for the 2013-14 NHL season with a full slate of games featuring the sport’s biggest stars and the best NHL match-ups and marquee events all season long and into the playoffs, including exclusive coverage of the Stanley Cup Final. The new hockey season begins on CBC with NHL Face-Off from Montreal on Tuesday, October 1, as the Canadiens host their longtime rivals, the Toronto Maple Leafs. A host of other high-profile events are included on CBC’S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA schedule in addition to the iconic Saturday night broadcasts, including coverage of several outdoor games.

Major NHL events on CBC this year include the 2014 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic which sees the Toronto Maple Leafs take on the Detroit Red Wings from Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, MI, on Wednesday, January 1, 2014, and the 2014 Tim Hortons Heritage Classic on Sunday, March 2 as the Vancouver Canucks play host to the Ottawa Senators at GM Place. CBC also has exclusive Canadian coverage of back-to-back games from the 2014 Coors Light Stadium Series with the Anaheim Ducks visiting the Los Angeles Kings at Dodger Stadium on Saturday, January 25, followed by the New Jersey Devils hosting the New York Rangers at Yankee Stadium on Sunday, January 26.

Other important dates on the HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA calendar in the 2013-14 season include the return of Kraft Hockeyville and Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada. The Ontario township of Sterling-Rawdon plays host on Saturday, September 14 as the Winnipeg Jets and Washington Capitals face-off in a pre-season match-up in Bellville, ON as part of Kraft Hockeyville, while Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada is live from Lloydminster AB/SK on Saturday, January 18, with a full schedule of games featuring all seven Canadian teams.
In all, CBC’s schedule includes 94 games featuring 33 all-Canadian match-ups, 16 Original Six games and four installments of the “Battle of Alberta” between the Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers. Viewers will also see the defending Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks five times, the reigning Eastern Conference Champion Boston Bruins four times, Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins three times and Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals three times.
