Fans invited to open practices, autograph sessions at Chedoke Twin Pad Arena this weekend

HAMILTON, ONTARIO – Hamilton Bulldogs President Stephen Ostaszewicz announced today the hockey club’s 2013 training camp schedule. The Bulldogs’ 18th training camp in Hamilton will run from Friday, September 20th through Thursday, October 10th.
“In planning training camp for this season, we felt that it was important to continue to immerse ourselves in the local community,” Ostaszewicz said. “So many organizations and fans in the Greater Hamilton Area support us throughout the year, so we want to give back by hosting practices, games and autograph sessions in community rinks. Hosting training camp locally also gives us an opportunity to expose our product to potential new fans in our area.”
Players will report to training camp on Friday, September 20th. The first on-ice sessions will take place on Saturday, September 21st and Sunday, September 22nd from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Chedoke Twin Pad Arena, located at 91 Chedmac Drive in Hamilton. Both practices / scrimmages will be open to the public, with autograph sessions to follow.
“From a hockey operations perspective, hosting training camp locally allows our players to settle in and adjust to their new surroundings in Hamilton,” said Bulldogs Head Coach Sylvain Lefebvre. “It also gives our players a chance to get involved in the community right away.”
On Monday, September 23rd, the team will play an intra-squad game at Peach King Centre, located at 162 Livingston Avenue in Grimsby, at 7:00 p.m., followed by a post-game autograph session. Tickets for the game will be available for $5 at the door on a first come, first serve basis.
The Hamilton Bulldogs will open the pre-season with a home-and-home series versus the Toronto Marlies, AHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs. On Friday, September 27th at 7:30 p.m., Hamilton will host Toronto at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex, located at 3070 Neyagawa Road in Oakville. On Saturday, September 28th at 7:00 p.m., the Marlies will welcome the Bulldogs to Cobourg Community Centre, located at 750 D’Arcy Street in Cobourg. The hockey club will wrap-up their three-game pre-season schedule on Thursday, October 3rd at 7:00 p.m. with a home game versus the Utica Comets, AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, at J.L. Grightmire Market Street Arena, located at 35 Market Street South in Dundas. Fans will have an opportunity to meet ‘Dogs players and coaches at post-game autograph sessions following the team’s two pre-season contests in Oakville and Dundas.
Tickets for the Oakville game are available for $20 plus HST and can be purchased at Oakville Blades home games, at Puckz Pub inside Sixteen Mile Sports Complex or online at www.oakvilleblades.com. Tickets for the Cobourg game are available for $25 plus applicable fees and can be purchased at Cobourg Community Centre, by calling 1-866-943-8849, or online at ccc.cobourg.ca. On Friday, October 4th and Saturday, October 5th the Bulldogs will practice at Mohawk 4 Ice Centre, located at 710 Mountain Brow Boulevard in Hamilton, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Both practices will be open to the public.
