The week kicked off in Montreal with a Canadiens home game against the St. Louis Blues.  The Bell Centre crowd cheered loudly and emphatically applauded for Carey Price as he was awarded the Molson Cup for the month of October during the pre-game proceedings.  Unfortunately for the fans and the team, there wasn’t much to celebrate after the puck dropped.  Price kept the team in the game with a number of solid saves, but the Habs offense only managed to put numbers on the scoreboard in the second period when Rene Bourque and Michael Bournival each potted a goal.  It was , however, enough to continue the game past regulation and into a shootout, but the only goal scored in the shootout would be by T.J. Oshie.  Final score: Blues, 3-2. (Read our full recap here: Habs Weather Blues Dominance, Lose in Shootout)

The Canadiens’ lackluster performance continued on Thursday night as they took a short road trip to Ottawa to face the Senators. It was the team’s first meeting against the opponent that knocked them out of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals since last spring’s playoff race, and fans were hoping for a bit of retribution.  Andrei Markov kicked things of the right way with a power play goal in the first period but, unfortunately, it would be the only goal scored by the Habs for the entire game.  Additionally, an abundance of penalties resulted in the Canadiens  being shorthanded much too often.  Final score: Senators, 4-1. The Canadiens take to the Bell Centre ice on Tuesday night in a matchup against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Until then, we’ve got plenty of content to keep you busy reading about your favourite team! In case you missed them, here are a few fantastic articles published earlier this week:

1st Star: Andrei Markov

Markov had a goal and an assist during the week. Markov leads the team with an average of 25:05 ice time per game.

2nd Star: P.K. Subban

Subban was in the news for a supposed rift with the coach. On the ice Subban tallied two assists.

3rd Star:  Carey Price

With the team in front of him struggling in all aspects, Price kept his mates in each game with continued strong performances.
