It was a short week for the Habs and their fans as the NHL had a few days off to allow teams to celebrate the Christmas holidays.  For the Canadiens, that meant that only one game would be played this week: Saturday night in Tampa Bay against the Lightning.  It seemed like both teams weren’t quite ready to let go of their leisure time, as the game moved along very slowly and resulted in only two goals during regulation.  They both came in the second period, and for the visiting team it was Tomas Plekanec who put the puck in the net.  Carey Price performed well, making 23 saves overall.  No goals were scored in the overtime period and in the shootout only Lars Eller could get a puck past the opposing goalie, giving the Canadiens the win.  Final score: Canadiens, 2-1 (SO).  (Read our full recap here: Price, Eller Combine for SO Win Over Bolts)

The Canadiens return to the ice tonight for a tilt against the Florida Panthers. Until then, we’ve got plenty of content to keep you busy reading about your favourite team! In case you missed them, here are a few fantastic articles published earlier this week:

2nd Star: Lars Eller

Lars Eller had a strong game for the Canadiens against the Lightning as he and Alex Galchenyuk generated most of the team’s best scoring chances.
