Post-game Press Conference |
- “I really appreciated the team effort tonight. We competed really hard. We certainly deserved a better fate after the first period.”
- “[Detroit] capitalized on their 5-on-3 (power-play.) Whether I agreed or not on the penalty to put us down by two men, (it was a) tough play for (Alexei) Emelin (who was) just trying to finish his check. The (Detroit) guy turned around at the last second. He’s got no time to react so I thought that it was a tough call against us especially to put your team (down) by two men. I certainly don’t agree with the call but there’s nothing that we can do.”
- “I liked the way we competed tonight. That’s a good sign.”
- “You got the young kid, (Nathan) Beaulieu, played another solid game. The thing that I see with him is that he always has a good start in the past but his game was going down (as the game went on) but now he gains confidence (as the game progresses.) So that’s a good sign for us.”
- “I thought that [Alexei Emelin] played better tonight. I thought that he played more solid. (It was) a bad break on that goal (against.) I thought that he was solid with Andrei (Markov.) I thought that our defense was quality — even (Douglas) Murray and (P.K.) Subban, Murray was a tough guy to play against, (Nathan) Beaulieu and (Josh) Gorges, they were pretty solid too.”
- “Oh yeah, oh yeah (Beaulieu will stay up with the Canadiens for awhile.)”
- “I’m not quite sure (where Emelin was hit with the puck.) He’s fine.”
- “We gotta try to find (a way) to get the lead. We tried to push the pace tonight. We got some chances, quality chances in the first, but at the end of the first period we were down by one goal. It’s not a matter of a lack of effort. I thought that our guys competed and they were working hard to create chances. We couldn’t find the net. It’s a different ball game when you play with the lead. [Detroit] was able to capitalize on their 5-on-3.”
- “We took some penalties. We have to be better.”
Forward Brendan Gallagher
- “Just little, unfortunate breakdowns that we know better. Just little things cost us.”
