A Cyclone waiting to stir up Dogs’ offence

An excerpt from the Hamilton Spectator article by Garry McKay who interviewed ECHL MVP David Desharnais:

He won the ECHL scoring championship and was named the league’s MVP and rookie of the year. He was named to the league’s first all-star team and all-rookie team.

In the playoffs, he led the league in scoring with 33 points (nine goals) and helped Cincinnati win the Kelly Cup.

“He pretty much ran the table when it came to winning league awards there,” says Bulldogs’ GM Julien BriseBois, who added that Desharnais also played very well in the Montreal Canadiens training camp the last few weeks and in the three pre-season games he played.

“He played in every situation, power play, penalty kill and he was effective everywhere. He was dangerous in the offensive zone and he was effective as a penalty killer. I think his confidence is very high coming off the season he had last year.”

If Desharnais can come anywhere close to duplicating those numbers in Hamilton this year, it would be a huge plus for a team that has lost most of its top scorers and appears, on the surface anyway, to be offensively challenged.
