MONTREAL, QC. — It’s the MOst wonderful time of the year again! As we do every year, the staff of All Habs Hockey Magazine and Rocket Sports Media are getting hairy and participating in Movember. We’re getting a little hairy and joining the fight for men’s health.
The month of November (or as it is now known, Movember) is dedicated to growing mustaches and raising funds and awareness for causes related to prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health. And there’s been a new cause added to the fold this year: Movember is encouraging physical activity by introducing the MOVE for Movember challenge, where participants pledge to MOVE (by engaging in physical activity) every day of the month.
There are no rules other than that – participants can set their own goals and choose their own activities. If you participate in MOVE, you might go for a long walk one day, hit the gym the next, and hit the ice the day after that. Staying active is so important to mental and physical health that it should be no surprise it’s become part of Movember’s initiatives for men’s health.
In recent years, funds raised in Canada during the month of Movember have benefited causes such as Prostate Cancer Canada, Kids Help Phone, the Men’s Depression and Suicide Network, as well as a host of cancer research initiatives that have made scientific breakthroughs.
The Montreal Canadiens have a Movember team. All Habs does, too. Why not join in on the fun and help save lives? You can get started by signing up at Movember.com and joining the All Habs team. Or if you would like to make a donation to our fundraising goal, you can help here.
