Here’s an excerpt from the Hamilton Spectator article by Garry McKay who interviews returning, former Bulldog Dan Jancevski:

“I asked Dallas if I was going to be sent anywhere could I be sent to Hamilton. They talked to Montreal and things worked out,” said Jancevski, who won the Bulldogs top defenceman award in both of his two previous seasons here.

“I’m happy to be back. The last time I was here we had a great experience. I’ve played here before and I feel comfortable. It seems like good things happen to me here.”

Head coach Don Lever is more than happy to have Jancevski back.

“He and (Alex) Henry will give us solid leadership. And the leadership is very important. That’s one of the main reasons we were interested in bringing him in from Dallas. We knew the type of person we were getting, a solid leader on and off the ice.

“He’ll give us a little bit of offence as well, and he knows the system.”

Jancevski’s leadership skills are also why, in the two weekend games against the Manitoba Moose, Lever at times paired the veteran defenceman with highly touted rookie Yanick Weber.

Even though he’s a member of the Dallas Stars organization, Jancevski has no qualms about helping the Canadiens young prospects in Hamilton.

“It doesn’t matter where you’re from when you pull on the Hamilton Bulldogs jersey, you’re a member of the Hamilton Bulldogs and you try and help anyone who is on your team,” Jancevski explained.
