	On this day in hockey history… 1957 — Montreal’s Claude Provost scored just four seconds into the second period to set an NHL record (later tied by Denis Savard) for fastest goal from start of a period. Canadiens beat Boston, 4-2.  1971 — National Hockey League announced that it had granted a franchise to Atlanta, to begin play in 1972-73.  1988 — Father David Bauer, founder of the Canadian Olympic hockey program, died at the age of 64.

• Greg Pateryn rejoined his teammates in Montreal prior to their road game in Pittsburgh on Wednesday. All Habs Hockey Magazine was the first to report on Friday that Pateryn’s conditioning stint would be limited to three games with the St. John’s IceCaps. ► Take your time

• The Canadiens took a hit on Monday, albeit one lessened somewhat, that Carey Price would be leaving the city to seek another opinion on his lower-body injury.
• In years past, news such as this would’ve destroyed a fan base so dependant on their best player but there is a collective sense of calm knowing they have the league’s best backup according to the statistics.
• “As a team we understand that it’s not just about our goaltender, it’s about the way we play. We want to play the right way and if we do that then we shouldn’t ask a lot of our goaltenders. If our goaltender has to make 35, 40, 50 saves a night, then we’re asking too much of him. I don’t care how good the goaltender is,” said the league’s fifth highest paid player P.K. Subban.
• TVA analyst Alain Chainey said, “It is worrying … and mysterious. Has [Price] injured his groin? His hip? Knee? We do not know. But the fact that they have demanded a second opinion suggests that the injury isn’t healing so well.”
• An update to his condition will be announced Tuesday.

► Condon a star

• Canadiens default starting goaltender Mike Condon was further praised this week when the NHL announced that he is their third star of the week.
• In three games last weeks, the Needham, Massachusetts native posted a 1.66 GAA and a .934 save percentage along with a 2-0-1 record.
• His fellow stars of the week were Tyler Seguin, who had a hat trick in a return to Boston, and Patrick Kane, who along with Seguin is the NHL’s scoring leader.
• With the aforementioned possibility of a prolonged absence for the league’s MVP, Condon’s better than solid play is a major luxury for a Canadiens team that’s playing their best hockey of the 21st century.
• Condon is currently leading the lead in goals against average and is fifth in save percentage. He’s also two off the league-lead in wins.

► Playing catch up

• Habs fans will get a special treat come November 13th when RDS has announced that they will be airing 12 St. John’s Ice Caps home games.
• RDS’ Vice President of Programming Robert Turcotte commented on the move “We are excited to offer Montreal Canadiens fans the opportunity to see the evolution of the organization’s best prospects including Nikita Scherbak, Michael McCarron and Zachary Fucale. This association is a natural complement to our partnership with the Montreal Canadiens and we are eager to help expand the pool of IceCaps supporters among hockey fans.”
• The Ice Caps are now second in their division, only trailing the Toronto Marlies.
• The following games will be televised after the November 13th game versus th Marlies:

► Jerseys revealed

• On Friday the Canadiens revealed their jerseys for the 2016 Winter Classic and the sweater has multiple different components of jerseys past.
• To start out, the globe on the arm of the jersey is an homage to the 1924 jerseys which featured the globe as the main crest.
  According to Eric Engels of Sportsnet, the collar on the jersey has its origins in the 1945 Canadiens team which took down the Boston Bruins in the Cup final.
• Habs Owner, CEO and President Geoff Moulson was very complementary towards the vintage sweaters “In looking at jersey designs that would mark the occasion of heading outdoors to face the Bruins in the NHL Winter Classic, one of the NHL’s premiere events, we wanted to underline and pay homage to our earliest meetings with our hosts.”

► A springboard?

• Canadiens centreman David Desharnais is off to a red-hot start this season which is a change from seasons past and Louis Jean of TVA Sports asked the team’s leading scoring centreman if he made a change in the offseason.
• “My preparation was exactly the same.”
• “He worked with a sports psychologist,” according the Jean. “That helped him with wonder whether he will be the team’s number one centre, number two, will [Desharnais] be on the wing.”
• “The mental aspect makes a huge difference for him and he doesn’t have to worry about things off the ice and now can focus on the things on the ice […] and be his own worst enemy,” said the TVA employee on the Canadiens’ diminutive forward.
• Desharnais had 13 points in 15 games prior to Saturday’s tilt with the Boston Bruins; he would be on pace for a 71 point season.

► Kids

• Pittsburgh Penguins prospect Derrick Pouliot was arrested in Wilkes-Bury Wednesday for public drunkenness.
• Police was called to the scene following a confrontation between Pouliot and a taxi driver at 1:10 in the morning.
• In hilarious fashion Wilkes-bury Scranton head coach Mike Sullivan tried to cover for his 21-year old defenceman by saying he was scratched due to a “bruise”.
• Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins CEO Jeff Barrett had this to say on the situation when questioned by the Pittsburgh Tribune
• “We’re aware of the situation. It’s an unfortunate circumstance. We will not comment further until we have full knowledge of all the details.”
• The player who was expected to be a big part of the Penguins’ blue line this season also spoke on the matter “Before we say anything, I just want to address what happened the other night. […] It was a bad decision and I’m sorry for everyone that was involved in the incident. […] Hopefully I’ll use it as a learning experience and be able to move on and continue to help this team.
• The former eight overall pick had six points in eight games in the AHL.

► Peter effing Forsberg

• The greatest Swedish forward of all time, Peter Forsberg, teammed up with a website of his native land and went undercover as “Kent” and surprised his fair share of people.
• “Kent” purposely played mediocre in the first half of the game and subsequently drew the ire of his teammates but turned it on in the second half of the game and turned heads.

► The Blues make a couple moves

• Things are seeming to start to go the St. Louis Blues’ way as they make a pair of moves Friday to supplement their already successful roster.
• The sole NHL team in the state of Missouri activated blueliner Kevin Shattenkirk of injured reset and signed forward Martin Havlat to a contract.
• Shattenkirk was sidelined for 10 games due to a lower-body injury and had a lone assist in the trio of games he played this season prior to the injury.
• After inviting both himself and Danius Zubrus to the Blues on a PTO, St. Louis has decided to sign Martin Havlat to a one-year, $600,000 deal that will pay him a third of that should he be sent to the AHL.
• In 40 games last season the speedy forward had five goals and 14 points with the New Jersey Devils.

► A difference of opinion

• Earlier in the week Maple Leafs head coach Mike Babcock admitted he would like the NHL to make the nets better to facilitate goals scoring and a few days later Sidney Crosby commented on his Olympic coach’s comments.
• “I’m kind of a traditionalist I would rather see the goalies get smaller equipment before the nets get bigger. I’d rather try that. But I’m all for more goals. However you want to do it.” Sid told NBC’s Pro Hockey Talk.
• Crosby’s struggled to fill the aforementioned net this season with only a pair of goals going into Saturday.
