Higgins impatiently awaiting the green light

Below is an excerpt from the Canadiens.com article by Shauna Denis who spoke to Christopher Higgins after practice about his injured groin.

Having already sat out the first six games of the regular season because of a groin injury, Higgins still has yet to receive the go-ahead from team doctors.

“No, it’s still a red light,” said the 25-year old assistant captain. “But I feel good out there. Obviously, practice is practice, but it was feeling great this morning.”

Higgins knows better than anyone how hard it is to gauge the recovery time of this kind of injury. Last Saturday morning, it seemed that the green light was well within reach prior to the game against Phoenix, until he had to leave the ice because of the pain during the morning skate.

“Groin injuries are really frustrating because there is no set recipe like with some other types of injuries,” explained Higgins. “Everyone’s different. There are different ways to treat it and I probably didn’t choose the best route when I tried to rush back too early.”
