Game Recap:It was an entertaining game of quick strike offense combined with plenty of mistakes. P.K. Subban and Francis Bouillon were on the ice for all four Red Wings goals and played a contributing role. The Habs proved to be resilient however with Tomas Plekanec and Thomas Vanek leading the way on offense. The Wings relied on youth with Tomas Tatar, Gustav Nyquist, Tomas Jurco and Riley Sheahan propelling their attack.

Coach Michel Therrien
- “(David) Desharnais, (Max) Pacioretty and (Thomas) Vanek were true leaders tonight, the way that they played. They played both sides of the ice and they were hungry, they were doing the right thing, they got rewarded and they were true leaders for our club tonight.”
- “We made some mistakes and at this time of year there are still things we need to work on. The duo of (Francis) Bouillon and (P.K.) Subban had a rough night tonight. There were on the ice for the four goals of the Red Wings. So this is something that we’re gonna have to pay attention to and make sure it doesn’t happen again.“
- “(Mike) Weaver again, he’s so steady that guy. This is one thing that I respect about his game. First of all, he’s a true professional, he comes to play. I believe tonight, again, he had another solid game. It’s a good thing for us.”
Forward Max Pacioretty
- “[The Red Wings] didn’t take a minute off tonight. They played a strong game and we’re fortunate enough to come out with the win. We want to play a defense-first game. We don’t want to give up four goals. But being able to put in five against a team like that helps our offensive confidence.”
Goalie Carey Price
- “It doesn’t matter if you win 1-0 or 10-9 at this point. It all adds up the same. [The Red Wings] threw everything they had at us. They play well together even through the injuries they’ve had all season. They still find a way to bring it every night. Every point’s huge at this point in the season.”
Red Wings head coach Mike Babcock
- “That’s two games in a row that we got behind and it’s unacceptable. We’ve played so much hockey that I gave them an optional (practice on Wednesday) and not many guys went onto the ice. (It) looked like we couldn’t skate at the start of the game. You can bet it won’t be an optional (on Friday.)”
- “I didn’t think we played well enough. That’s the bottom line. Everyone talks about our injuries and kids; this had nothing to do with that. This had to do with just not getting the job done, and not enough focus. It was a huge game for us, and we didn’t get it looked after.”
