Below is a translated excerpt from the Journal de Montreal article by Pierre Durocher who made a trip to Hamilton where he interviewed various Bulldogs players, including pint-sized yet hugely talented center, David Desharnais:

Don Lever said he was impressed by the performance of youngsters Ben Maxwell, David Desharnais, Yannick Weber and Ryan White since the beginning of the season.

“They learn quickly”, he said. “Desharnais has a great vision of the game and I try to find ways to use it more, especially in special teams. ”

The best scorer of the ECHL last season with 106 points in the uniform of the Cyclones Cincinnati is centering the fourth trio with hard-hitting Ryan Flinn and Ryan White.

Well protected

Being on the fourth trio hasn’t prevented him from being the third best scorer of the Bulldogs with three goals and six assists in 11 games.

“I do not have to worry about the rough play with a winger like Flinn to protect me,” said Desharnais, smiling, he is only five feet and six inches.

“The coach gives me confidence with special teams and it helps me to accumulate points,” he continued.

“I continue to gradually adjust to the level of play of the AHL. The more the season progresses and more I will feel at ease. ”
