► Today at 7 pm is the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. The Canadiens are slated to select 26th overall.

► Canadiens sign Andrei Markov to a three year deal.

• The Habs signed Markov to a three year deal which will pay him $5.75 annually.
• Chris Johnston of Sportsnet reports that there is a limited no trade clause.

► Canadiens 2014-15 season schedule is released

• The Canadiens will open and close the season at the Air Canada Centre vs the Maple Leafs.
• The Habs will begin the season on a three game road trip in Toronto, Washington and Philadelphia.
• The home opener will be Thursday the 16th versus the Bruins following a four day break.
• The Canadiens will play 16 sets of back-to-back games. The only set of two home games will be the “Family Games” on Super Bowl weekend against the Capitals and Coyotes. The Habs will also play a home and home series against the Sabres.
• The Stanley Cup champion LA Kings will be in Montreal on December 12th.
• There will be 22 Saturday, 19 Tuesday and 17 Thursday games.

► Broadcast details:

• Rogers plans to broadcast 32 Canadiens games nationally across Canada.
• Rogers will use the following networks for their broadcasts: CBC, City, Sportsnet (East, Ontario, West, Pacific), Sportsnet One, Sportsnet 360 and FX Canada.
• In French, you can expect Canadiens national games on TVA or TVA Sports.
• As of now the Canadiens have no regional English language broadcasts.
• The Canadiens previously secured a 12-year deal with Bell Media that allows RDS to broadcast all Canadiens regional games (60 games) in French. The deal also retains naming rights to the Bell Centre.

► Gerard Gallant officially hired by the Florida Panthers as Head Coach

• Gerard Gallant was officially introduced as the Florida Panthers head coach today.
• “Obviously we are disappointed to see an individual like Gerard Gallant leave our organization, but on behalf of the management team and the entire coaching staff I would like to wish Gerard the best of luck as the new head coach of the Florida Panthers,” Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin said in a statement. “Over the past two years, Gerard has been a valuable asset for us and contributed to the success of our team.”

► Brian Gionta is considering other options

• Although the Canadiens and Brian Gionta have begun contract talks,  Gionta and his agent Steve Bartlett have begun talking to other teams.
• TVA Sports reported that Gionta is looking at options elsewhere.

►  Canadiens, P.K. Subban to begin contract talks today

• Pierre LeBrun of ESPN.com tweeted earlier today that Subban’s agent Don Meehan will meet with the Canadiens today regarding Subban’s free agency.
• LeBrun also says that the Canadiens intend to match any offer sheet submitted to Subban.

► Canadiens and Panthers talk trade

• Jimmy Murphy reported yesterday that the Canadiens and Panthers were engaged in trade talks.
• He also said that he does not believe they were regarding the first overall pick in the NHL Draft Friday.
• According to Murphy the Panthers are shopping Dimitri Kulikov and the Habs may be interested.

► Mike Weaver contract talks hit road block.

• According to multiple sources, UFA Mike Weaver has not been offered a contract as of yet but continues to talk with the Canadiens.
• It has also been reported that many teams have shown interest in Weaver, but he would prefer to stay in Montreal.
• It has been rumoured that the Canadiens are going after a bigger fish in the free agency sea.

• Penguins defenseman Matt Niskanen informed the Penguins today that he intends to test the free agency market.

►  Ryan Kesler could be dealt very soon

• Darren Dreger of TSN reports that Ryan Kesler could be dealt within the next 24 hours, location to be determined.
