  • P.A. Parenteau and crew are having an easy time of it in a non-physical training camp but the line of Lars Eller, Jacob De La Rose and Rene Bourque have been controlling the play on most shifts.

 Tomas the mentor

  • Much is expected from new acquisition Jiri Sekac this season with many wondering if he is ready for a top-6 role in the NHL.
  • With everything being new, Sekac is grateful to have fellow Czech Tomas Plekanec to show him the ropes. Sekac said, “I’m pretty happy that I get to play on a line with him and I’m really enjoying the game so far. He helps me out in pretty much every way. He’s showing me places around Montreal. He helps me out in the locker room if I don’t know what to do. He’s just here for me. It’s good to have him here.”

► Bartlett leaves TSN 690, heads to Sportsnet

  • The “Voice of the Habs” John Bartlett has left his play-by-play duties at TSN 690, where he has covered Habs games since 2011. As we reported earlier this week in Headlines, Bell Media posted an ad for the position on Wednesday.
  • In a swan song interview with Mitch Melnick on “Melnick in the Afternoon” Bartlett and Melnick all but gave away the fact that Bartlett is leaving 690 to do play-by-play for Canadiens regional games on Sportsnet East and City Montreal.

► Moen: expecting to be in the lineup

  • Travis Moen had a broad smile when asked about playing with Alex Galchenyuk and Brendan Gallagher in training camp.  He said, “I wasn’t expecting it but it’s fun to play with those guys for sure.”
  • Moen sat out the last eight playoff games in the Canadiens spring run showing some timing rust after missing five weeks due to a concussion suffered in March. He now declares himself healthy and feeling good with his game.
  • Moen will be hoping to secure a position on the fourth line competing with Brandon Prust, Dale Weise and Michael Bournival along with Manny Malhotra.
