► Bournival to Dogs

  • Canadiens forward Michael Bournival has been assigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs where he is expected to play in games on Friday and Saturday.
  • Bournival had a poor training camp and has been in the press box for the Habs first four games of the season.
  • Coach Michel Therrien said that Bournival should be recalled on Monday.  You can read the official release at Bulldogs Hockey Report.

► McCarron to play Wednesday

  • Canadiens first round draft pick from the 2013 entry draft, Mike McCarron, will suit up on Wednesday night for the London Knights as they face the Erie Otters.
  • McCarron suffered a shoulder injury in a Canadiens preseason game on September 23rd against the Boston Bruins.

► Musicology major mans blueline

  • Mac Bennett graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in music history. Bennett is spending his first pro season in hockey with the Hamilton Bulldogs.
  • On his transition to the AHL, Bennett says, “It’s definitely different. It’s a lot quicker game. The players here, or on any team I guess in the AHL, are just a lot more skilled and the decision-making is a lot faster. So that’s kind of been the biggest challenge for me — just making sure that whenever I have the puck, I’m making that decision as quickly as possible.”

► Bozon in Cranbrook

  • Tim Bozon, the Canadiens third-round pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, will play in the WHL as a 20-year-old over-ager with the Kootenay Ice.
  • This summer Bozon made a strong recovery following his battle with neisseria meningitis but didn’t have the strength to compete at the AHL level this season.
  • Bozon said, “I’m here back in junior not because I was not good enough…You can tell in puck battles with bigger guys, professional guys, it’s tougher. I need to regain my strength.”
  • Kootenay Ice head coach Ryan McGill said, “Our job is to get him to pro hockey. He’s had a setback, clearly, because of what he has been through. He’s worked his butt off to get to where he is right now. The Montreal Canadiens feel he needs more and it’s our job to get him where he needs to go.”
