► Six more years of Gally.
- Brendan Gallagher is well-known around the league to everyone from fans to officials. To opposing goalies, he is that pesky player that seems to always be in their crease, but he is also known for playing with his heart. Gallagher gives everything he has, every second of every shift. It comes as no surprise that Canadiens’ general manager, Marc Bergevin, wanted him to remain with the team long-term.
- On Saturday, the team announced that they had signed Gallagher to a six-year, $22.5 million contract. This means Brendan will have an annual average salary of $3.75 million. The contract does not include a no-trade clause.
- When Bergevin was asked how long they had been working on this deal, he said that negotiations had been going on for about a month. He also went on to say, “The organization and I were both comfortable in offering Brendan a long term contract.”
► Emelin fined.
- Alexei Emelin was fined $11, 021. 51 for an illegal head check to his former captain, Brian Gionta, on Friday night. The money will go to the Player’s Emergency Fund.
► Price leads.
- Goaltender Carey Price is unquestionably the Canadiens best player and leader. Here’s what a few members of the team had to say about Price in a recent interview by The Buffalo News.
- Michel Therrien: “[Carey] is a role model. He became a great leader because of his work ethic, because of his approach to the game.”
- Max Pacioretty: “[Carey] obviously has the skill set to be one of the best goalies in the league, but I think most importantly it’s his mindset. He’s so relaxed in there. He never lets his emotions get too high or too low.”
► Bourque is a happy Duck.
- With Canadiens coach Michel Therrien unable to motivate Rene Bourque, GM Marc Bergevin made the move to send the 32-year-old forward to the Anaheim Ducks.
- When interviewed by the Calgary Herald, Bourque said, “I knew I still had a lot left. It was just a matter of getting with the right fit with the right team. I lost my place in Montreal and never really got a chance this year. So, I think this move … obviously I have to prove myself, but I think I can help this team win.”
- Bourque added, “It was nice to get out of (Montreal). It was a tough place to play. I’m not saying it was just the media, but it never really went right since I got there. Hopefully a change of scenery will help me out.”

► Remembering Pat.
- The hockey world was hit with heart-breaking news earlier this week with the passing of the legendary Pat Quinn. Whether you know him as a player, a coach, a person, or simply for the hit on Bobby Orr, you’ll know that he was truly a special man.
- Quinn was born in Hamilton, Ontario on January 29th 1943 and passed away on November 23rd 2014. He spent every minute of those years loving hockey.
