► Montreal Canadiens: December 4
- The players were given the day off on Thursday in Chicago by coach Michel Therrien. The Habs play the Blackhawks on Friday night.
- Forward Michael Bournival was assigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs for a three-game conditioning stint. He is expected to return to the Canadiens next week.

► Remembering a legend.
- The hockey world continues to mourn the loss of a true legend. Mr. Jean Béliveau, passed away at the age of 83 on Tuesday. It’s always difficult to see one of the greats be taken away, but the impact Béliveau had on the world, will live on for a very long time.
- Béliveau had such a positive impact on everyone he met, whether they were playing hockey with or against him; they were part of the community of Montreal; or they were a fan of the game. If you would like to share your memories, please leave your comments here: Remembering Jean Beliveau.

► Béliveau tributes.
- In the days since his death, tributes have been made. Two of the best are from Ken Dryden and Dick Irvin Jr.
- In “An Appreciation of Jean Béliveau,” Dryden describes Béliveau like this, “A very few ever become superstars. Many fewer become stars of all-time. In old clips, most of us look dated. Jean, so big, so graceful and forceful, looks timeless, as at home in today’s game as he was in his prime — a bigger, more forceful Jonathan Toews, perhaps.”
- Dryden contrasted the styles of Maurice Richard and Béliveau writing, “The Rocket, bull-shouldered, explosive, with a will that intimidated his opponents. Jean played in cool control of the action. For fans in Quebec, the Rocket was just like them. He did what they could do, if only in their dreams. Jean was beyond them; out of reach. One evoked deep love; the other deep admiration.”
- Dryden summed up Béliveau like this, “A true, all-time hockey great, an ambassador extraordinaire for all he believed in, Jean’s greatest achievement, in fact, may have been that he was a very nice man.”
► Friedman’s thoughts.
- In this week’s 30 Thoughts, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman writes that “one of the comparables used for Brendan Gallagher’s extension was Brad Marchand.”
- With Gallagher locked up, everyone assumes that GM Marc Bergevin will turn his attention to signing Alex Galchenyuk. Friedman reports, “There hasn’t been a ton of talk between the two sides yet, either. That’s why the expectation is he will opt for shorter term, and the Canadiens probably won’t mind.”
- Friedman speculates that he “could see Montreal being one of those Eastern teams with interest in L.A.’s Jordan Nolan.”
► Price’s Cup.
- Goaltender Carey Price was named the Molson Cup recipient for the month of November, making it the second straight month that he earned the honour.
- Price had a 6-4-0 record in November, where he managed a 2.21 goals against average and a .924 save percentage. He also had two shutouts. The presentation will be on December 9th prior to the Canadiens game against the Vancouver Canucks.
► All-Stars.
- After two weeks of voting and nearly 8.5 million votes from more than 170 countries, two Canadiens’ players rank high: Carey Price is leading among goalies and P.K. Subban leads all defenseman in voting.
