Glumac has a hand or two in Dog wins

Mike Glumac’s hot — and now mended — hand carried the Hamilton Bulldogs to a pair of weekend wins.
Glumac scored twice on Saturday to help the Dogs to a 5-1 win over the Manitoba Moose at Copps Coliseum.
He followed that up with two more goals yesterday as the American Hockey League club opened a five-game road trip with a 4-3 shootout win over the Amerks in Rochester.
Glumac has seven goals and two assists in the six games he’s been back in the lineup after missing 13 games with a broken bone in his hand.
“He’s going to the net. He’s skating, moving his feet and that’s what he’s got to do,” said head coach Ron Wilson.
“His whole line, with Brock Trotter and David Desharnais, are all playing well. He’s going to the net and they’re finding him.”
Glumac’s goals yesterday also give him a 16-game point streak on the road, the longest streak in the league this year.
“On our power play, he’s the guy in front of the net and he gets tips and stuff,” Wilson added. “He’s paying the price to get in the dirty area and score goals, and he’ll do it at home and on the road.”
The Bulldogs tried hard to give away yesterday’s game, blowing three one-goal leads by allowing the Amerks to score three shorthanded goals.
Kenndal McArdle, Drew Larman and David Brine all scored for Rochester on goalie Cedrick Desjardins when they were a man short.
Brock Trotter had the other Hamilton goal.
But they also needed two scores by Yanick Lehoux in the shootout to get the win and stretch their road winning streak to five games.
That’s significant because last night’s game in Rochester kicked off the Bulldogs’ five-game road trip. They also play in Iowa tomorrow, Quad City on Friday, Chicago on Saturday and Milwaukee Sunday.
They don’t play at home again until Tuesday, March 24, when they entertain San Antonio.
On Saturday, the Dogs snapped Manitoba’s six-game winning streak by whipping them 5-1.
Sergei Kostitsyn supported Glumac’s two scores with a goal and two assists. J.T. Wyman and Ryan Russell were the other Bulldogs’ marksmen.
Mike Keane was the only Moose to beat Hamilton goaltender Marc Denis.
