MONTREAL, QC — The Montreal Canadiens have hired Pierre Allard as their strength and conditioning coach. Allard, who has a B.Sc. degree from the University of Montreal in kinesiology, replaces Lorne Goldenberg who was dismissed after only one season with the Habs.
Allard is 37 years old and is a native of Montreal.
The news was announced on Twitter by one of Allard’s clients, Bruno Gervais of the New York Islanders. Gervais wrote, “The Montreal Canadiens just made a great addition , my long time friend and trainer, Pierre Allard is now their strength coach. Bravo Pierre!”
While the Canadiens will be Allard’s first NHL team, he has worked with Gervais, Kris Letang, and Max Talbot. He has also assisted the Rimouski Oceanic.
Allard played professional hockey in Europe for ten years and was part of France’s hockey team at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano.
