Nothing mattered in this game until we reached the 59th minute and beyond. Oh sure, the Flyers and But then, with the game winding down and the Canadiens trailing 3-2, Sam Montembeault headed to the bench for an extra attacker. The Canadiens won an offensive zone faceoff which led to Chris Wideman kneeing Joel Farabee in an uncomfortable place. With Farabee writhing on the ice, the play was stopped and Wideman was assessed a major penalty. After some discussion among the officials, the infraction was reduced to a two-minute penalty for interference. This decision would prove to be key to the outcome. With one minute remaining, the Flyers had a one goal lead and were on the power-play. The situation seemed bleak. But then Ben Chiarot stole the puck from Travis Sanheim and centred it to Rem Pitlick. The Canadiens tied the game with an unlikely short-handed goal with 43 seconds remaining. The Canadiens continued to be shorthanded for the first minute of overtime but were able to kill off the rest of Wideman’s penalty. In another twist to the script, after Mike Hoffman broke his stick and headed to the bench, Cole Caufield jumped on the ice and blasted a shot past Carter Hart for the overtime win. Up NextThe Canadiens added two more players to the injury list. Artturi Lehkonen suffered an upper-body injury in the warmup and did not play. Ryan Poehling was taken awkwardly into the boards in the second period by Justin Braun and he did not return to the game with an upper-body injury. Poehling played a key role in Suzuki’s first goal by setting a screen on the power-play. The Canadiens returned to Montreal for a Tuesday night matchup against the Arizona Coyotes at the Bell Centre. we will pass teams ahead of us.
very sorry for the injuries.CH62 and CH25.love those guys.cannott let them get away or send them away,,,our building blocks for the stanley coupe.
interrogation?back to back matches and we did not play our back-up goalie.if we call cayden up we need to place faith/confiance in him,and play him.otherwise we risk in doing the opposite of that?very surprised et dissappointed we did not give him the nets tonite.
suzuki is maturing before our eyes.
kulak, pitlick, scheunemen et pezzetta continue to impress me.
brendan gallagher is unstoppable.fearless and relentless in his efforts.his contribution to the team is much more than statistical.immeasurable qualities.
