  1. This has got to be the most pessimistic podcast that I’ve ever heard. We’re talking about a team fresh of an appearance in the Stanley Cup final. Optimism is sky high. We lost an under-achieving forward under stressful conditions but immediately received a better (at this time) option. Maybe he reaches his potential but they should never NEVER pay 6.1 million for what he’s accomplished. Habs will be a force to be reckoned with and if you are true supporters you you should recognize that. Evil Bergy has done a great job for the most part (I’ll give you the Sergachev for Drouin deal) and a bit of support from some people would be a blessing.

    • Well “she” has more of a clue than you’d be able to recognize. Allow me to correct a misconception on your part: a media organization like ours is not here to be “true supporters” of a hockey organization, as you put it. Our job is to provide objective analysis and offer our opinions based on informed, educated perspectives formed from direct sources and first-hand observations from the hockey community.

Is this episode “pessimistic”? I’d call it realistic, and if it shatters your bubble of optimism then that’s just the way differing opinions go. Because this reporter has sincere doubts about the Habs season ahead (in terms of playoff potential) based off of the many gaffes this general manager has made over the years and over this summer. Optimism is actually not “sky high”, as all good will garnered by a magical run to the SCF has been squandered by an offseason filled with questionable moves.

I will be happy to provide upbeat, hopeful, and positive feedback on the team, players, management, coaches, etc. any time I feel they are deserving of it. For this podcast, and with a dismal record of properly developing prospects, a positive reaction wasn’t in the cards. And hey, I’m glad to hear that we’re on the same page as far as the Sergachev/Drouin deal! :)

Thanks for your comments (except for saying I don’t have a clue) – we’re always happy to engage in friendly debate!
