Habster:

The Hamilton Bulldogs have finally put a solid game together this week by beating the Chicago Blawkhawks’ AHL affiliate Rockford Icehogs 5-1. After a lackluster 3-2 loss against the Toronto Marlies the night before where they were outshot 40-16 (they could only mustard 6 shots in the last two periods), the Bulldogs came out with more energy and determination against the Icehogs.
Sergei Kostitsyn had a solid 4 point (G-1 A-3 +3) night and is starting to make an impact on the Bulldogs powerplay from the point. Kostitsyn now has 12 points (G-3 A-9) in 9 games and has taken over the team lead from Maxim Lapierre who has cooled off considerably since his fast start of 8 points in the first 3 games ( he has 0 pts in the last 6 games).
Sergei Kostitsyn isn’t the only player making an impact on the Bulldogs’ powerplay as defenseman Marvin Degon showed a nice scoring touch on the PP as well with 2 PP points.
After the disappointment and let down of being sent down to the AHL, Jaroslav Halak appears to be rounding into his usual solid self the last two games with a save percentage of .947 (72 saves/76 shots).
All the Dogs need to do now is string together a few wins and start playing with some consistency in order to defend their Calder Cup championship
