All Habs Draft Predictions, You Vote!

By Stevo, AllHabs.net

MONTREAL, QC. — It’s only been about one week since the Boston Bruins defeated the Vancouver Canucks to capture the Stanley Cup, yet already, it seems like there’s something missing in our daily lives. For those of us who don’t follow baseball (sorry MLB fans, when the Expos left, so did my interest), we must now resort to watching TV shows like So You Think You Can Dance, American Idol or even worse for some, Glee.

It therefore comes without saying that many hockey fans will be tuned in this week to the NHL awards presentation on Wednesday, and then the NHL entry draft this Friday. All Habs is hosting a Habs Tweetup for both events, please visit habstweetup.com to RSVP for either the NHL awards viewing party in Montreal, or the NHL draft viewing party in Toronto.

Now to the draft, every year, the anticipation is always with regards to which player will get picked first overall, even in the cases where it’s obvious. TSN recently released it’s projections for who the top 60 picks of this year’s draft will be, based on projections from various scouts across the league.

What we at All Habs would like to do with our readers, is give you the chance the participate in this year’s draft, by participating in a little pool we have put together for the draft. This so-called predictions pool will involve a series of questions, with points awarded for what turns out to be correct answers. The person who ends up with the most points will have ultimate bragging rights plus one of our legendary All Habs prizes.

In order to participate in this pool, all you need to do is answer the series of questions in the comments section below, and we will compile the results following the draft.

Note that the first question is based on TSN’s final rankings.

  1. The habs have 6 picks: 1-3-4-5-6-7 the 5th they give to nyi and anaheim’s 2012 picks.

For the question: I’m french but i’ll do my best in english but not bilingue.

It’s depend of the ranking but for the moment:
Nugent Hopkins, Huberdeau, Larsson, Landeskog, Hamilton, Couturier, Strome, Murphy, Zibanejad, the 10th’s not easy i’ll go with armia but well not sure.

2- the devils will not forfeit a 4th overall draft pick lol they have other years to forfeit it, it’s sureee they will wait ;-). hum it’s not easy, Timmins seams liking a kind of guy, but last year they change all the thing, with new Dg and etc. so if they pick old mentality: Saad or Puempel if he is there too, but saad’s maybe 1st in the old mentality, in the new mentality, maybe guy like Biggs, well not sure i like that! :P Miller’s another possibility.

3- I Would say Pouliot, for is right for a low return draft pick.

4- Nop i think they maybe go lower, but not higher, this will be to costly , and we don’t have 2nd to give, so we will have to give player, (prospect).

5- I think it will be New Jersey and Ottawa if Landeskog is already here at #4 and if the Devils are not sold of him (rumors that they are high on couturier, well don’t know if this true.)

6- Ithink yes, not have a name, it’s weird, so i think the name will be revealed, i will love to see prospect put the real jersey on him too, but well, that’s not so sure but i wish the name will be revealed.

7- New York Rangers or Anaheim , because they don’t have great releve at this position, the goaler they have are not sign for 5years and + , they will need a goalie, but i think rangers will try to go down to have more picks, they dont have on 2 they trade either of to the cgy for erixon rights, they don’t have a 3rd to. So i think they will try to trade down, if they want a goalie and they know they will be able to have him lower. If not Rangers, i think Anaheim will do, the goalie: J. Gibson.

for 8 like i said before they have 6, but i will loved they add 1 or 2 picks, i don’t care the round of it, you never know what a picks lower or higher can be in the future.

  6. Thank you all for participating.
Justme, you have officially taken me “to school” correcting me on two mistakes.

The Habs did indeed have six draft picks, I knew they had lost their fourth in the Atlanta trade, but had forgotten they reacquired one in the trade with Anaheim. (Tnx)
For this reason, i gave full points to everyone on question #8.

By my tally, Don is the winner with 18 points. The difference seemed to be in question #1, where Don picked up five points, more than anyone.

Don, to claim your prize, please send us your coordinates by using the contact us link at the top of the page or email me at [email protected].

    Thanks again for participating.
