► Terrorism in Ottawa
- The NHL has announced that game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators, scheduled for tonight at Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa, has been postponed. “The National Hockey League wishes to express its sympathy to all affected by the tragic events that took place this morning in downtown Ottawa.”
- The Canadian Anthem will be sung at the Consol Energy Center prior to the game between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Philadelphia Flyers.
- The victim of the shooting at the Canadian National War Memorial is Nathan Cirillo, 24, a reservist serving in Hamilton from the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada regiment. Our condolences to family and friends.

► Bozon says thanks
- Canadiens prospect Tim Bozon visited Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon this week to thank staff for their care during his bout with Neisseria meningitis earlier this year.
- Some of the medical staff will be in attendance at tonight’s game between the Kootenay Ice and the Saskatoon Blades as guests of Bozon.
- Bozon: “It’s a miracle, I know. Now I know I’ve got to enjoy the life and be thankful for everything that happened to me.”
► Malhotra shares his secret
- It’s very evident that veteran, Manny Malhotra, is a face-off specialist and everyone knows how crucial a face-off win can be.
- Canadiens’ head coach, Michel Therrien, shared his views on Malhotra’s face-off magic, “It’s one of the reasons why we went out and got him over the summer. We understand the importance of winning face-offs. He does excellent work defensively, too, not only on face-offs. He kills penalties. He’s a huge addition for us, especially because we can use him when the game is on the line. He takes a lot of pride in the fact that he wins those draws. He’s an extraordinary person. He’s a well-respected athlete within our group, and that’s been the case everywhere he’s played. He’s a nice acquisition for us.”
- Malhotra added, “If I’m good at what I do, it’s also because of my technique and my speed. The more you take draws, the better your timing will be. And, I know how other players take draws, too. I’ve got a little book with a page dedicated to each centerman in the NHL. It comes with experience and repetition. I take a lot of pride in my work.”
