On this day in hockey history… In 1971, Jean Beliveau scored twice and added two assists to lead Montreal to a 7-5 win over the Boston Bruins , in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Quarter-Finals. The Canadiens came back to win the game after trailing 5-1.

MONTREAL, QC. — The Canadiens announce that defenseman Alexei Emelin is out for the season with a torn ACL in his left knee. Emelin was injured on Saturday night in a collision with Bruins forward Milan Lucic. The Habs went on to beat Boston 2-1.
The incident happened at the 9:12 mark of the first period – Emelin did not return to the game. He left the Bell Centre on crutches and wearing a knee brace.
In practise on Monday morning, Emelin’s spot beside Andre Markov was taken by new arrival David Drewiske. Nathan Beaulieu has been recalled from the Hamilton Bulldogs and will be in the lineup when the Canadiens face the Washington Capitals on Tuesday night.
Forward Rene Bourque confirmed that he should return to the Canadiens lineup on Tuesday night. Bourque has been out of the line-up since February 21st missing 21 games due to a concussion. Coach Michel Therrien says that the decision on Bourque will come after tomorrow’s morning skate. Defenseman Rafael Diaz skated alone at Brossard today.
Jonathan Bernier is reporting that Max Pacioretty left practice with a lower-body injury and is now listed as day-to-day.
