► Dale Weise signs 2-year contract extension
- Canadiens forward Dale Weise, who was acquired in February from Vancouver in exchange for Raphael Diaz, has signed a 2-year extension with the Habs.
- The new contract will pay him $1.025 million annually.
► Canadiens’ Head Coach Michel Therrien signs a 4-year contract extension.
- The Habs bench boss has been rewarded for two straight successful seasons under his watch with a 4-year extension.
- Therrien’s current contract has one year remaining.
- It has been reported by LaPresse that the fourth year of the contract is a team option.
► Andrei Markov seeks 3 year, $18 million contract; talks stall with the Habs.
- According to TSN Insider Bob McKenzie, UFA Andrei Markov is seeking a three year contract at $6 million per season.
- Markov has said previously that wishes to stay and finish his career in Montreal.

► Guy Lapointe’s jersey will be retired next season
- On Wednesday the Canadiens announced that Guy Lapointe’s jersey will be retired, reuniting “The Big Three” in the rafters alongside Larry Robinson and Serge Savard.
- His jersey number 5 is already retired in honor of Bernie “Boom Boom” Geoffrion.
► Martin Brodeur says the Habs are not on his radar
- The Devils’ goaltending legend has said that the Habs are not on his radar come July 1st when he is set to test the Free Agency market.
- Brodeur said, “It depends on the situation of the team. Montreal would be tough. For me, I’m so used to being in the states and playing in the type of markets I’m used to playing in. But, again, I don’t know. That’s something that when we come to that bridge, we’ll go over it. But it’s something that, put it this way, they’re not too much on my radar.” (via Tom Gulitti)
► ECAC Rookie of the Year, Sam Anas, will attend Habs Development camp
- Anas, a forward with the Quinnipiac University Bobcats, won the ECAC Rookie of the Year award for the 2013-14 season.
- Anas is 5’8″ and 155 pounds
- “When I first got the invite from Montreal, my first thought was ‘Well, what about Caps camp?’ because the Caps were the team that I loved growing up and obviously there’s a connection there. But when you hear the name Montreal Canadiens, I think just as a hockey fan in general, you smile and you think of the history there and all the Stanley Cups that they’ve won, they’re an Original Six team, so I thought that it’d be pretty cool to try something new and to get to see it up there.” (via Ben Raby)
► Habs prospect Martin Reway joins Sparta Praha of Czech Extraliga
- Habs prospect Martin Reway is officially leaving the Gatineau Olympiques of the QMJHL to play for HC Sparta Praha for the next 2 years.
► Prospect Mike McCarron will attend the US National Junior Evaluation Camp

McCarron, currently a forward with the London Knights of the OHL, will attend the US National team camp at Lake Placid, NY in August.
► Hockey Night in Canada’s Elliotte Friedman and Scott Oake join Rogers’ NHL coverage next season.
- Canadian media giant Rogers announced yesterday that HNiC’s Friedman and Oake will join Rogers’ coverage of the NHL next season
- They join George Stroumboulopoulos, Daren Millard, Jeff Marek, Ron MacLean, Don Cherry, Jim Hughson, Bob Cole, Dave Randorf and Paul Romanuk. Randorf and Romanuk have both done play-by-play work for the Habs on TSN.
► Canadiens’ Assistant Coach Gerard Gallant is a finalist for Panthers’ Head Coaching position.
- According to multiple sources, the Panthers have offered one of Marc Crawford, Gerard Gallant or Dan Bylsma a contract to be their next Head Coach. It is expected that they announce the coach on Monday.
