► Lucic dropped
- During the final few seconds of overtime in Friday’s contest between the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Boston Bruins, forward Milan Lucic and Dalton Prout jostled together with the Columbus defenceman steering Lucic away from the goal. In the process, Prout knocked the stick from the hands of Lucic.
- Bruins forward Carl Soderberg hit Prout and then Lucic followed with a double glove punch to the head of Prout. Lucic began yapping at the defenceman.
- Lucic skated angrily towards the defenceman as Prout backed away.
- When Lucic reached Prout, the defenceman shed his gloves and dropped Lucic with a single punch.
- Lucic took a swing with his left hand as Prout was being held by the linesman. And, of course, Bruins coach Claude Julien whined to the officials.
- Dalton Prout on Milan Lucic (via Aaron Portzline): “As soon as he grabbed me by the collar and looked away … it’s on. We’re both guys who have been in altercations. It’s flipping switches. As far as I was concerned we were engaged in a fight. I have no idea what he was screaming.”
► Family road trip
- Players and staff are being joined by the mothers on the weekend road trip to Boston and New York.
