► Montreal Canadiens: January 28
- The Canadiens practiced this morning at the Bell Sports Complex in Brossard. This afternoon, they travelled to New York City for their game on Thursday night against the Rangers at Madison Square Garden.
- After a 40-save performance in Tuesday night’s game, Carey Price was excused from practice.
- After practice Michel Therrien said that he had a meeting with Lars Eller with the coach expressing his expectation of increased production from the third line. No word if Therrien will be providing greater offensive opportunities in the form of power-play time and increased offensive zone starts.
- Gabriel Dumont, called up from the Hamilton Bulldogs on Tuesday for the first time this season, took part this morning.

► Habs depart for NYC
- Just before the Canadiens boarded their charter flight to New York City, our very own team member Angie, captured these photos of the players for All Habs Hockey Magazine.
► Plekanec on Selke radar
- With less than half of the regular season remaining, many have begun to look at potential NHL award winners. Carey Price, who has carried the Canadiens with stellar play this season is a candidate for both the Vezina and Hart trophies.
- Our friend, hockey analytics expert Rob Vollman, in a new piece for ESPN, has taken a first look at those in line for the Selke Trophy. To begin, Vollman identifies the criteria that fits past Selke winners that he calls the “Bergeron Rules.”
- The Canadiens own Tomas Plekanec gets checkmarks in four of six categories including playing on a good defensive tea, being a top penalty-killer, contributing offensively and facing the opposition’s best. Plekanec gets partial credit for demonstrating faceoff success and having a good reputation.
- According to the checklist, in addition to Plekanec, the top candidates are Patrice Bergeron, Jonathan Toews, Ryan Kesler, Pavel Datsyuk, Joe Pavelski and Marian Hossa. Even Manny Malhotra gets a mention.

► NHL All-Star weekend in review
- The 2015 NHL All-Star game took place this past weekend in Columbus. The 17-12 score resulted in the most goals scored by one team in the history of All-Star games.
- Carey Price made his fourth NHL All-Star appearance and Jiri Sekac made his first. Sekac spoke about the experience, “It was a lot of fun. It was a great experience for me and I really enjoyed being around those guys. I’m happy that I was able to be there. The mood there, both on and off the ice, was amazing. Everyone there has a bright future and they know it. When you see how they prepare for games and what they can do on the ice, it’s amazing. It’s not the kind of stuff you see every day.”
- Sekac finished sixth overall in the fastest skater competition.
► AHL All-Star weekend in review
- The 2015 AHL All-Star game took place this past weekend in New York.
- Canadiens’ prospect, Charles Hudon, played tremendously, registering a hat-trick and an assist. His performance also earned him the title of co-MVP of the game, alongside goaltender, Jacob Markstrom.

► Brodeur Retiring
- On Tuesday, Martin Brodeur of the St. Louis Blues, announced his retirement from the National Hockey League. Brodeur was drafted 20th overall in the 1990 entry draft by the New Jersey Devils, who he went on to play with for 21 seasons. In the 2014-2015 season, he also played seven games with the St. Louis Blues.
- Brodeur will join the St. Louis Blues in a management position.
- Martin Brodeur is one of the best goalies to ever play the game, and has the most career wins among all goaltenders to ever play in the NHL with 691. He also has played the most games among goaltenders with 1, 266, as well as most shutouts with 125. Brodeur throughout his NHL career has averaged 2.24 GAA and a .912 save percentage. He also won three Stanley Cups and two Olympic gold medals among other awards.

► Player of the week honours for Gregoire
- Canadiens prospect Jeremy Gregoire of the Baie-Comeau Drakkar has been named CHL Player of the Week for the week ending January 25th.
- Gregoire recorded eight points in two games scoring three goals and five assists.
