Hawks dominate, Price shines

  • After 40 minutes the Blackhawks were outshooting the Canadiens 22-9 but there was no score primarily due to Carey Price looking like he was in mid-season form.
  • Price continues to show why he was the best goaltender at the 2014 Winter Olympics, making save after save on Wednesday night. It appears that he has made a full recovery from his injury last season and is arguably looking better than ever.
  • The youth-laden lineup got two goals early in the third period from Rene Bourque and Nathan Beaulieu leading to a 3-1 win.
  • The NHL 3-stars were: 1.  Carey Price  2.  Nathan Beaulieu  3. Andrew Shaw

► Pressure motivates Sven

  • Sven Andrighetto, a 21 year-old, Switzerland native gives a little insight on what it’s like trying to crack the Habs’ roster, “You never know when it’s your last chance, so I’m going to go out there, do my best and have fun. You’re always under pressure, but it just motivates you. It’s all about how you take it. I think pressure is a good thing. It pushes you harder, and makes you play your best.” Full story here.

► Price wins Beliveau award

  • Carey Price is this year’s recipient of the Jean Beliveau Trophy, acknowledging his community involvement last season.
  • Price will receive the trophy in a pregame ceremony ahead of the Habs preseason game vs. the Senators on Saturday.

► Prust ready to go

  • Thirty year-old veteran, Brandon Prust, is now entering his eighth NHL season and is eager to get back into the swing of things, “I think we’re all ready and we’re wishing the season would start right now, but those preseason games are good to get your timing back and get warmed up. It allows us to make sure that we’ll be ready to go when the puck drops on October 8th.”

► Stephane helps Hawks

  • Prior to the game with the Blackhawks on Wednesday night, Habs goaltending coach Stephane Waite looked at the rosters for the two teams noting, “I just saw on the lineup sheet: Jimmy Waite, goaltending coach, on one side, Stephane Waite, goaltending coach, on the other side. It’s very special.”
  • Stephane had something to do with helping his brother Jimmy to secure that position for the Hawks, “[Chicago coach Joel Quenneville] was looking for someone who teaches the same way I did with [Corey Crawford], and the best guy for that was my brother. For sure, I have good words for my brother.”
