► Montreal Canadiens: January 7
- The Canadiens have the day off today. They will next practice at Brossard on Thursday at 11 am.

- Canada beat Russia to take the gold medal at the 2015 World Junior Championship on Monday. Canadiens prospects all had good showings at the tournament.
- Jacob De La Rose (Sweden): Team MVP | 2G, 2A, 4P
- Artturi Lehkonen (Finland): 1G, 0A, 1P
- Martin Reway (Slovakia): Team MVP | Bronze medal | 4G, 5A, 9P
- Zachary Fucale (Canada): Gold medal | 5w, 1.20 GAA, .939 SV%
► Allen to Hamilton
- Sometimes certain players just aren’t the right fit for a team, and unfortunately for Bryan Allen, this was this case with his short-lived time with the Canadiens. Allen was sent down to the Hamilton Bulldogs after not quite fitting the puzzle that Marc Bergevin is putting together.
- Allen was acquired by Montreal in a trade with the Anaheim Ducks on November 20th in exchange for forward, Rene Bourque.
- Montreal currently has an array of defencemen to choose from, which saw Allen only playing five games with the team. Throughout those games, he tallied one assist and two penalty minutes. Maybe Hamilton will give him a good opportunity, and we wish him the best!
► Leafs dismiss Carlyle
- The Toronto Maple Leafs have no doubt been up and down over the past few seasons, and it seems their general manager, Dave Nonis, is making an attempt to fix this issue. Nonis told the media, “One of the things you’ve all heard me talk about is consistency. We need to see some level of consistency. We all agree we had some good stretches here but I can’t stand here and tell you our group’s been consistent.”
- On Tuesday morning, it was announced that the team’s head coach, Randy Carlyle had been fired. When trying to shake up a team, changing who’s in charge behind the bench certainly does just that; whether or not it will be good, we shall see.
- Randy Carlyle was first hired by the team in March 2012, after Ron Wilson was fired for failing to get the team into the playoffs. Carlyle went onto coach 188 games, 91-78-19 being the record over that time period. Another interesting statistic is that the team was outshot by 1254 while he was behind the bench.
- Players also have to take part of the blame for the lack of consistency as I’m sure they do, but a coach getting fired should send a big message to the team. All of this stress surely would cause the players to be slightly on edge, and unfortunately, a reporter sparked this emotion from Phil Kessel.
► Price recognized by the NHL
- Carey Price has been outstanding for the Habs lately and really is their MVP. This didn’t go unnoticed as he was named the third NHL star of the week this past week.
- During the span out that week, Price certainly has the statistics to show for his determination. He went undefeated, back stopping the team to three wins, with a 1.33 goals-against average and .952 save percentage.
- The other stars of the week were, T.J. Oshie of the St. Louis Blues (1st Star), and Alexander Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals (2nd star).
