► Montreal Canadiens: January 12
- The Canadiens were busy at Brossard today focusing (once again) on special teams in practice.
- P.K. Subban decided to get a few fighting tips from Brandon Prust. There were several interactions with Subban ending up with his practice jersey over his head each time.

► Price makes All-Star roster
- The 2015 All-Star rosters were announced Saturday, Carey Price, being the only Canadien player to crack the line-up. This is the fourth time he has been selected to the All-Star teams.
- What some people, including myself, were very surprised with was superstar P.K. Subban not being selected. When I look at the line-up, my take as to why he did not make it was, there are only 42 players selected, not including the six rookies. Each NHL team must be represented in those 42 spots, meaning 12 possibilities for “extras.” Out of those 42 players, six of them were determined by the fan vote where Chicago won five of those six spots. That left only eight players that could come from teams that already had representatives.
- Carey Price of course being one of the best goaltenders in the world right now, left it impossible for him to be passed by, meaning if Subban was to be chosen, he would have to be one of those eight “extras.” Unfortunately, the only defenseman named to the roster who already had a representative in another category was Drew Doughty (Anze Kopitar).
- With the large amount of talent on defense, although Subban is arguably one of the best in the league at his poisition, there just wasn’t enough spaces remaining for defensemen after each of the 30 NHL teams had been represented.
- All that has to be taken into account when determining the rosters and meeting all those requirements certainly aren’t easy with such a large spectrum of talent in the National Hockey League.
- All that being said, people should not dwell on the players they feel were snubbed, but rather be happy for those who did crack the roster and look forward to the All-Star game and skills competition!

► Thrower suspended
- The ECHL has suspended Canadiens prospect Dalton Thrower for five games for violation of Rule 70.10 Leaving the bench for the purpose of starting an altercation.
- The incident happened during the January 9th game between Thrower’s Brampton Beast and Elmira Jackals.
► Koberstein traded
- Canadiens prospect Nikolas Koberstein was acquired by the Bloomington Thunder (USHL) from the Sioux Falls Stampede. The Edmonton, Alberta native has already committed to play collegiate hockey at Alaska-Fairbanks in 2015-16.
- “[Koberstein] would probably have more points if he played on their power play, but he wasn’t getting power play time. He’s a big kid who brings a presence. We don’t have a lot of big guys on the back end. We’ve got to generate more goals off 5-on-5 and we’re going to give him the opportunity here right away, ” said Thunder coach Dennis Williams.

► Tinordi out indefinitely
- Canadiens’ prospect, Jarred Tinordi, is the teams’ top defense prospect outside of the NHL, but is now out due to a KO in a fight.
- This fight took place on Friday night, the Hamilton Bulldogs have since announced that Tinordi is out with head and facial injuries and that there is not yet a time-table set for his return. This is not good news for Hamilton or for Montreal.
► Nygren attacked
- The brother of Hamilton Bulldogs defenceman Magnus Nygren was mugged on New Year’s eve. The 20-year old Martin was found on the street after being beaten and robbed of his gold neck chain and his watch. During the incident Magnus was inside paying the bill at Test Kitchen, a restaurant in Burlington, where the two had dined.
- The Bulldogs declined official comment on the incident.
- Martin suffered a black eye and swollen cheek during the beating.
- Martin stayed in Burlington to visit with his brother after the Bulldogs denied Magnus’ travel request to spend the New Year in Sweden. Magnus is currently out of the Bulldogs lineup recovering from an injury.
