• Team Red defeated Team White 2-1 in the Red vs White scrimmage at the Bell Centre on Monday.

• Goal scorers for Team A: Max Pacioretty, Christian Thomas. For Team B: Alex Galchenyuk.
• Carey Price (5 Shots Against; 5 Saves) and Peter Budaj (4 SA; 4 S) were perfect in the first period. Zach Fucale (10 SA; 9 S) gave up a single goal and Mike Condon (9 SA; 7 S) allowed two goals.
• Showstopper: Team Red goaltender Carey Price with two big saves in the first period on Tomas Plekanec and Dale Weise.
• Of the regulars, Lars Eller did not play. He is listed as day-to-day with a lower body injury.
• Magnus Nygren delivered a solid hit on Michael Bournival. A short time later Mike McCarron returned the favor by hitting Nygren.
• Michel Therrien made special mention of Greg Pateryn saying that the young defenseman had a solid game.
• From the coach: “I liked what I saw from Scherbak tonight. He showed a lot of enthusiasm, he was explosive, and his line did a lot of things right. The Galchenyuk line was fun to watch. Galchenyuk played his best scrimmage of camp. He controlled the puck well in the neutral zone and he made some nice plays. Scherbak skated really well. He’s a good player and he was flying on the ice. I like the way he skates. He’s powerful with his skating, he has great ability, and he’s poised with the puck. Those three kids together, I really liked what I saw out there.” — Michel Therrien
• Selected by the fans, Nikita Scherbak was chosen as the player of the game.

►  A trade for Scherbak ‘s junior rights

• The Everett Silvertips, a major junior team in the WHL acquired Canadiens prospect Nikita Scherbak from the Saskatoon Blades on Monday. Everett gave up goaltender Nik Amundrud, a first-round bantam pick in the 2015 WHL draft and a second-round pick in 2016.
• Silvertips GM Garry Davidson said, “We felt we needed to improve our offensive game and we’re thrilled to add a big-time offensive player and first-round NHL Draft pick to our lineup with Nikita. He is a big, strong guy who can make plays with the puck and has the ability to score goals for us.  We’re confident that he will make a big impact for our club offensively.”
• On the trade Scherbak said, “It’s kind of sad. I have friends in Saskatoon. I play first year and everybody support me — training staff, coaches, fans.” But leaving the Blades was not without it’s positives according to Scherbak, “Saskatoon is cold. Minus 65, not really for me. It’s Siberia.”

► Riendeau promoted 

• Marc Bergevin holds the dual titles of general manager of the Montreal Canadiens and the Hamilton Bulldogs. On Monday, Bergevin appointed Vincent Riendeau, as assistant general manager of the Bulldogs to oversee daily hockey operations.
• Riendeau will retain his role as a goaltending coach with the Bulldogs.
