► Montreal Canadiens: October 25
- After a long wait, it’s finally Game Day! Be sure to check out our preview here: Game Day: Rangers vs Canadiens Preview, Lineups, Puck’s Prediction
- The Canadiens wore purple practice jerseys at the morning skate in support of Hockey Fights Cancer.
► Canadian teams unite
- Prior to game time, the Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators will stage a co-ordinated tribute Saturday night to honour the Canadian soldiers who lost their lives this week in the Ottawa attack and in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec.
- Manny Malhotra shared his thoughts, “It must’ve been a terrifying experience for those people that found themselves near those buildings. It brought me back to September 2001, when I was in New York as a member of the Rangers. That feeling of uncertainty, of not knowing what’s going on, or where to go in order to be safe is hard. It’s definitely a sad day for Ottawa. Our thoughts and our prayers go out to those affected by the tragedy.”
- Brendan Gallagher also commented on the tragedy, “I was at home when I heard. Obviously, I saw it on the news and I think I felt like most Canadians. It was a little scary. You obviously know that evil is out there, but you don’t think about it too much, so for Ottawa to go through that right now is tough. I think everyone around the world is sending their thoughts and prayers to them. I think we’re doing a good job of understanding that it’s an isolated situation. Hopefully, it doesn’t happen again. I think everyone involved did a great job.”
Very sad news to hear about what happened in Ottawa. God bless the families who have to mourn these losses. #sosad

► Prospects shine
- The Canadiens are impressing those around the league with their success this season but there’s also amazing performances in the prospect pipeline.
- In Sherbrooke, Daniel Audette had two goals and four assists for a six point game on Friday night for the Phoenix.
- In London, Mike McCarron had a goal and two assists helping his London Knights to a 5-2 win over the Ottawa 67’s.
- And in Everett, Nikita Scherbak scored two goals including the game-winner as his Silvertips beat the Tri-City Americans 3-1.
► Don’t look now but..
- Everyone is happy with how well the Canadiens are starting off the season- well at least all Habs fans. However there are a few issues so far that need to be addressed. Firstly, the Habs goals against per game average is tied for 24th in the league. Secondly, the number of shots the team is allowing per game is 32.2, ranking 23rd in the league.
- It is no surprise that losing Josh Gorges on defense was going to have an impact. It is likely that those numbers will improve once the players get used to the new roles they have to take on.
