	On this day in hockey history… 1975 –  Montreal Canadiens battled the Soviet Red Army team to a 3-3 tie New Year’s Eve at the Forum. Ken Dryden and Vladislav Tretiak starred in goal for the teams. Tretiak made 38 saves, including 16 in the final period.

• The Canadiens had the day off today and will celebrate New Year’s eve in South Florida. The team will fly out of Florida to New Jersey on New Year’s Day.

• Canada beat the USA 5-3 to remain unbeaten at the World Junior Championships and take top seed in Group A. Canada will take on the Ellers and Denmark in the quarterfinals.
• Jacob De La Rose (Sweden):  2G, 2A, 4P
• Artturi Lehkonen (Finland):  1G, 0A, 1P
• Martin Reway (Slovakia):  3G, 2A, 7P
• Zachary Fucale (Canada):  2w, 0.50 GAA, .975 SV%, 1 SO

► Conclusion of 2014

• The Canadiens started 2014 with a 6-4 victory over the Dallas Stars on January 2nd and finished it with a shootout win against Florida.
• The year was filled with wins and losses, some losses much harder than others and some victories much sweeter, but the team will start the next chapter of Canadiens’ history on January 2nd against the New Jersey Devils.
• Some highlights of the year included, the Canadiens beating the Bruins in game seven in the playoffs; Guy Lapointe’s jersey being retired; the touching tribute to Saku Koivu; the comeback against Ottawa when they were down three goals; Carey Price’s performance in the Olympics; and of course P.K. Subban kissing Pierre McGuire.

• Naturally there were also hard times including: Carey Price’s injury in the playoffs; the Canadiens losing in the Eastern Conference Final. There were also very difficult times off the ice as well, Josh Gorges and Brian Gionta being traded; and the loss of the legendary, Jean Beliveau.
