No preseason jitters here: Drummondville Voltigeurs’ forward and Montreal Canadiens’ prospect Olivier Archambaultwasted little time making an impact for his new Q team on Saturday night, scoring the shootout winner and spoiling the debut of the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada, formerly the Montreal Juniors, in their new home at the Centre d’Excellence Sports Rousseau.  Archambault also had an assist on the goal that eventually forced overtime between the two clubs and now has four points in three preseason games.  The Voltigeurs’ next game is Thursday, September 1st as they host the Shawinigan Cataractes at 7 p.m. at the Centre Marcel Dionne, whereas the QMJHL 2011-12 season officially launches Thursday, September 8th.

Habs training camp: The Montreal Canadiens begin the pre-season with a rookie camp at the Bell Sports Complex from September 12-15. While the young Habs are on the ice, the rest of the roster will be participating in the annual golf tournament at Club Laval-sur-le-Lac on September 14. The main camp for the Canadiens begins on September 16 in Brossard.

The Habs will play their eighth and final pre-season game at Le Pepsi Colisee in Quebec City on October 1. They will then head to the resort town of Collingwood, Ontario for three days of practise, Oct 3-5, in preparation for their season-opener in Toronto on October 6.

From our sources: These are three words you won’t see at All Habs. Beware of self-proclaimed hockey insiders who cite unnamed reliable sources before announcing the latest rumour du jour — usually involving Scott Gomez or Andrei Kostitsyn this summer. But let’s be frank, the track record of these attention-seeking frauds is dreadful.

We will continue to build our network of sources to help sharpen our analysis and presentation of issues to you rather than chasing the one-time scoop. And keep in mind that within our All Habs community there is a wealth of knowledge — you are always welcome to share your insights with us in the comments section, on Twitter or at The Montreal Forum.
