► Juniors win playoff opener: Louis Leblanc and Philippe Lefebvre each registered a goal in a 5-3 Montreal Juniors win over the Halifax Mooseheads in Game 1 of their first-round series. Leblanc‘s tally turned out to be the game-winner. The Juniors outshot their opponents 40-18 as goaltender Frédéric Piché of the Mooseheads was pulled after the fifth goal, said to be fighting the flu bug going around the Halifax locker room. He will likely return to the crease for Game 2 that will take place Friday evening at the Verdun Auditorium.

► Missaien finds a home: Former Canadiens’ prospect Jason Missaien signed a contract with the New York Rangers shortly after the 20 year old’s season ended in Baie Comeau. The 6’8″, 220 pound netminder was 10-33-8 this season, posting 1403 saves, a .893 save percentage and a 3.33 goals against average. He made the move to the QMJHL after spending four seasons in the OHL as a member of the Peterborough Petes, and was originally selected 116th overall by the Habs in 2008.

► Gallagher an All-Star: Canadiens prospect Brendan Gallagher was named to the Western Hockey League First All-Star Team. As a member of the Vancouver Giants, Gallagher had a superb season scoring 44 goals and 47 assists for 91 points in 66 games.
