Week three of the season started well with the Habs earning a 2-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators. This game marked the surprise return of Max Pacioretty only eight days after undergoing emergency appendectomy surgery. First star of the game was Carey Price with 32 saves.

The Canadiens then hosted the Bruins at the Bell Centre for the most-anticipated game of the season. The Habs had a strong first period outshooting Boston 11-4 but goaltender Tuukka Rask stood tall. P.K. Subban scored his first goal of the season to give the Canadiens the lead in the second period. But two goals in the first two minutes of the third frame by the Bruins were the difference in the game.

On Thursday night Montreal held a 4-2 lead in the third period in Buffalo thanks to two goals from Tomas Plekanec. The goaltending at both ends of the ice was shaky all night with Ryan Miller and Peter Budaj fighting the puck. The Sabres tied the game on a controversial goal by Thomas Vanek with only two seconds left in the third period. Vanek then scored the winner in the shootout for a 5-4 Buffalo win.

The Canadiens hosted the Maple Leafs for their second meeting this season on Saturday.  Toronto outskated and outworked the Canadiens in the first period grabbing a 2-0 lead. After a couple of inconsistent calls, the officials seemed to lose control as the game became nasty. The Leafs’ Mikhail Grabovski will face a disciplinary hearing for biting Max Pacioretty while Colton Orr targeted the knees of Tomas Plekanec in a dangerous play.  Toronto won the game 6-0.
