The Canadiens kicked off their first round playoff series against the Lightning by trekking to Tampa Bay for the first two games.  This first game certainly delivered on an excitement level, as the two teams traded goals back and forth throughout all three periods.  Tomas Plekanec scored for the Habs in the first period, followed by a Brian Gionta short-handed goal in the second, and goals by Lars Eller and Thomas Vanek in the third.  Penalties and costly mistakes, coupled with a physical game, kept things at full speed on the ice.  The game went to overtime, where Dale Weise scored the winning goal.  Final score: Canadiens, 5-4 (OT). On Friday night the Habs and Lightning squared off again, but this time the visiting team dominated the ice.  David Desharnais potted a power play goal in the second period, with Rene Bourque scoring what would be the game-winning goal shortly thereafter.  In the third, Brendan Gallagher lit the lamp for the Canadiens, followed by a second Bourque goal.  The opposition could only muster one goal in the final minutes of the game.  Final score: Canadiens, 4-1.
